How is the name Gundapar derived
Gondo Persian: The name of Gundapar was not
a personal name, rather, derived from the East
Iranian name Wind, Windafarn (Parthian), and
J, Gandapar (Middle Persian). Seek Glory" (cf.
Greek Int, Intference)), which was also the
name of one of the six Emperors who crowned
King of kings Achimenid King (Emperor) the
Great (r. 522 BC - 486 BC) helped capture the
throne.. In old Armenian, it's "gustafar".
"Gandaparna" was apparently the Eastern
Iranian form of that name.
Ernest Herzfield claims to be named after the
Afghan city of Qandahar, which he named after
Gundofron
Gondofirus: The name was translated in
Armenian into "Gastafir", and then translated
into Western languages into "Gasbar, Gazpas,
Casper, Gezabar". He may be "Gasbar the
Treasurer and King of Persia", which is the
Christian books and Eastern Christian
traditions. According to the Bible, Gasper was
one of only three magicians who participated in
Christ's birth. Through this mutual interaction
and association, Gasper was adopted by the
Europeans (and in Western tradition) as a male
name.
